Founded in 1986, Northbrook College is one of the largest educational establishments in Sussex, England with approximately 1000 staff and 16000 full and part time students. The College is provider of work-related further education, has contracts for apprenticeship training, adult and community learning and provides courses in most work-related areas as well as those for personal development. These include EASA Part-66 courses for aircraft maintenance engineers. Its two campuses are located in Worthing and at Shoreham Airport.
For the aircraft maintenance courses offered at the institution, Northbrook College chose GEMS Basic and GEMS OMR (Optical Mark Reader) for automatic correction to facilitate the exam management and correction process.
After an initial 2-day training session, provided recently on-site at Shoreham Airport by Iarfhlaith Ò Raghaill, one of ASTech’s software engineers, all exams for courses on EASA Module A1 &A2 will now be generated and corrected with GEMS.
Iarfhlaith states: “GEMS can be used in a variety of organizations; from training organizations to academic institutions such as Northbrook, small or large with a low or high number of users and exams. GEMS is easily managed and maintained and ASTech can offer a package to suit any organization within the training industry.”
