Product Release of GEMS Type Version 1.4.7

A new version of GEMS Type (version 1.4.7) has been released.

The question exclusion functionality has been extended so that questions can be excluded from an exam even if the similar question is part of a different chapter, topic, or section.  The reference material where a question was taken from can now be stored with the question details.  The exam comparison functionality has been extended so that any two exams in the database can now be compared.

Product release of GEMS Online Version 0.9.18

A new version of GEMS Online (version 0.9.18) has been released.

This version introduces an alternative question randomisation algorithm. Exam questions may now, if required, be shuffled on a grouped basis. This means that all questions in a given group will be presented to the candidate together, but shuffled within that group. The order of the groups themselves is shuffled. This shuffling will still be unique to each candidate, thus maintaining the integrity of the exam.

An optional new feature allows exam results and details of incorrectly answered questions to be displayed to a candidate when he or she submits the exam.

Examiners now have the facility to view the questions answered incorrectly by each candidate, on a per-candidate basis. This allows examiners to discuss the exam easily with candidates immediately after the exam has concluded.

Several improvements have been made to the usability and appearance of the examiner interface.

Product Release of GEMS Basic Version 1.4.7.

A new version of GEMS Basic (version 1.4.7) has been released.

The resit functionality has been improved so that as little duplication of questions as possible will now occur between the resit and the original exam.  The exam comparison functionality has been extended so that any two exams in the database can now be compared.

The item analysis report has been improved so that questions that have been answered incorrectly by too many trainees are now highlighted to show that there may be a problem.  For these questions, the user will be shown details of recent actions that were taken on that question such as question notes or question validation.

Product Release of GEMS Type version 1.4.6.

A new version of GEMS Type (version 1.4.6) has been released.

Version 1.4.6 of GEMS Type contains a new feature where more than one authority can be used during the exam selection process.  This means that for different authorities, exams can be generated with different pass rates. GEMS Type will then base all of the result statistics on the authority pass rate.  Previously all exams were expected to have a pass rate of 75%.

An improvement has also been made to the process of uploading trainee results manually.  The form to fill in the results will now automatically display the correct answer, meaning that the user only has to identify the incorrect answers that the trainee filled in.  This significantly speeds up the process of uploading results.

Product Release of GEMS Type version 1.4.5.

A new version of GEMS Type (version 1.4.5) has been released.

The latest version of GEMS Type now allows the user to upload questions in more than one language.  The resit functionality has been improved so that as little duplication of questions as possible will now occur between the resit and the original exam.  An exam list can now be produced based on a selected template, and the aircraft selection rules are now available in the help menu.

There is also a new function added that allows the user to regenerate an exam.  Therefore if an exam has been created and the user spots an error with one of the questions, the user can fix the error and the exam can be regenerated to include the latest question revision.  This means that the user no longer has to generate a new exam from scratch when a problem is found.

The item analysis report has been improved so that questions that have been answered incorrectly by too many trainees are now highlighted to show that there may be a problem.  For these questions, the user will be shown details of recent actions that were taken on that question such as question notes or question validation.

Product Release of GEMS Type Version 1.4.4.

Searching exams for result analysis has been improved so that users can now filter by date.  Exams with results that have failed one of the threshold requirements will now be highlighted in the exams list to draw the users attention.  The detailed result analysis is now printable in PDF format.

The rules for resitting an exam have been modified so that the user is now warned when there are too many questions in common between the resit and the previous exam.  A new header styling and new ASTech logo have also been included in the update.
